Civil War Cannon Ball 3" 6 lbs Non Rifled (or smooth-bore?)
Original from William Polk Gean, 28th NCT 1861-1865 to his son Walter Diggs Gean, and then to the sons of Evelyn Mae Gean Sparks.
My two brothers and I have fond memories of growing up with this 6 pound hunk of bronze ... Many a young Sparks Brother's toe was nipped with this thing... then it did a fair number of Sparks Brother's Children's toes, and it's now into doing damage on the Sparks Brother's Grandchildren... so much so that the current "Custodian of the Ball" (Alan Blaine Sparks) keeps it hidden, much as Evelyn did.
Counting the William Polk Gean bunch, that's potentially five generations of bruised toes so far...not bad for one small Civil War cannon ball...
