Having a bit of spare time, constructed a pair of 300mm ferrite core antennas, on their 'cardboad breadboard' test lashup. These are quite amazing, exceeding the 120mm in gain (approx 3 times) and the signal quality seems slightly better, having a bit less noise basement, (or better signal to noise ratio) even running unshielded. The core consists of six 50mm/7.5mm 2000uh permeable rods compressed together with heat shrink and wrapped with approx 725 single-layer turns of 26AWG lacquered/enameled wire.
